Smiths Medical launches new Anesthesia Drug Library ServiceSeptember 12, 2011
September 12, 2011
This week, global device manufacturer, Smiths Medical, has announced the launch of their PharmGuard® Anesthesia Software Service (P.A.S.S.) for Medfusion® 3500 syringe infusion pumps.
The service makes use of the PharmGuard® software which is responsible for anesthesia drug library creation and entry. With the P.A.S.S., doctors and nurses need not worry about entering the information themselves. To avail of the service, hospital personnel will fill out a template to customize their anesthesia drug library. After the drug library has been created, Smiths Medical’s team of professionals will then enter the drug library into the Medfusion® 3500 pumps, prior to shipping. These pumps will be delivered directly to the hospital, ready to use for anesthesia.
The P.A.S.S. was created in line with the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF)’s recommendation that, “infusions should be delivered by an electronically-controlled smart device containing a drug library”. The new service will make hospital personnel’s jobs easier by reducing hospital medication as well as ensuring the safety of operations by preventing pump programming errors.
AIV offers a full line of replacement parts for Medfusion 3500 as well as offers repair services for that model. For more information please visit http://www.aiv-inc.com/medex- medfusion-smith-3500.html
