Smiths Medical Introduces Improved Pain Management SolutionApril 30, 2012
Earlier this week, Smiths Medical launched the CADD®-Solis pain management system version 3.0 to the international market. With Programmed Intermittent Bolus (PIB) deliveries, the new pain management system highlights customizable features that provide healthcare facilities and personnel with post-operation or epidural analgesia pain management for labor and delivery.
This system eliminates the need for manual bolus injections which clinicians have been using for epidural analgesia. The traditional method for epidural analgesia may cause ineffective pain relief and requires manual programming from clinicians, decreasing workflow. As PIB provides programmable intermittent boluses, there will be a significant increase in drug distribution quality, patient care and safety. Clinician interventions are also expected to decrease with this method.
Tommy Johns, the Vice President of Global Product Management stressed that the CADD®-Solis system version 3.0 combined with PIB provides a flexible, error-free drug delivery performance which can result in a more effective epidural analgesia method.
