The Mercy Medical Center recently opened the doors of their newly built Ambulatory Services Center to the residents of Sioux City, Iowa. The new, spacious facility now boasts state-of-the-art equipment devoted for ambulatory care, allowing them to accommodate more patients and provide additional healthcare services, on both an outpatient and inpatient basis.

Sue Froid, director of ER, ambulatory and ICU at Mercy Medical Center, takes pride in the Ambulatory Services Center that is designed primarily to offer better quality of patient care to all their infusion therapy patients throughout the treatment. Infusion patients can expect to be extra comfortable and relaxed in the center, as each will be provided with their own private rooms where family members can wait with them during the infusion process.

A great number of patients who need constant infusion therapy include those with chronic illnesses like asthma and diabetes, as well as those who need pain management medication or IV antibiotics for infections. As more intravenous medications are becoming available on an outpatient basis, the demand for additional infusion therapy centers like Mercy’s facility increases.

Highly skilled nurse clinicians provide primary patient care at the new Ambulatory Services Center, all of whom are capable in delivering outpatient treatment services and monitoring patients during therapy. These medical professionals also help educate patientson how to be an active participant in their own health care during the treatment program.

Providing optimum patient care and safe infusion therapy highly depends on the health care facilities’ steadfast commitment to employ no less than well-serviced, medical-grade infusion pump systems in the administration and delivery of intravenous medication.
