Hospira's New Injectable Painkiller Receives FDA Approval

January 23, 2015

Hospira, world leader in the design and distribution of specialty pharmaceutical and medication initiatives, is thrilled to announce that the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has finally approved its nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, Dyloject, amid opioid-prescription issues in 2010.

Dyloject takes on an advance approach in administering safe and effective patient care. It has a unique capability for providing fast relief to patients who are suffering from moderate to severe pain, which requires 15 to 30 minutes infusion.

This breakthrough injectable painkiller represents Hospira’s solid commitment in delivering innovative solutions for pain management, and patient satisfaction. “As a leading supplier of hospital pain management medication, Hospira's Dyloject will be a complementary addition to our existing portfolio of acute-care drugs, providing clinicians an additional non-opioid option that can be administered quickly and conveniently to treat pain,” said Sumant Ramachandra, M.D., Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer of Hospira.

The FDA approval was based on the results from two controlled studies comprised of Dyloject, placebo and ketorolac thromethamine. The first study focused on medicating patients with post-operative pain after undergoing pelvic or abdominal surgery, while the second study mended those with post-operative pain due to elective orthopedic surgery.

Hospira’s Dyloject revolutionizes the infusion pump market with its highly advanced injectable treatment option suitable for various hospitals and other healthcare facilities. AIV is committed to providing paramount refurbished IV pumps, replacement parts, accessories and repair services for major infusion equipment manufacturers including Hospira.
