BD Alaris System Named Infusion Pump EMR Integration Leader by KLAS Research

August 25, 2016

A new report issued by KLAS Research has named the Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) Alaris System infusion platform for having the most customers with integrated bidirectional electronical medical records (EMR) within their healthcare facilities. According to the data released by the healthcare technology research organization, health care providers see EMR integration as the most important next step as a way to reduce pump-programming errors and improve patient safety.

BD Alaris System Named Infusion Pump EMR Integration Leader by KLAS Research

The report, entitled “Smart Pumps 2016: The Quest for Patient Safety”, states that BD has the “most comprehensive pump platform”, with the Alaris System cited as the only infusion platform to achieve EMR integration with syringe pumps.

In addition, KLAS’ research data indicates that a great number of BD customers were able to attain high drug library compliance rates. This was largely attributed to the reports and guidance provided by the medical technology manufacturer.

The smart pump report also showed that actionable insights were valued higher than basic reporting, noting that BD reports and analytics were more often used by customers to drive outcomes versus other infusion pump vendors.

"This recognition is important because it comes directly from the health care providers who use our products every day," said Mike Garrison, vice president and general manager of worldwide Infusion Solutions for BD. "We continue to invest in innovation to ensure our products are at the forefront of technology to help improve patient safety and care efficiency."

In the 2015 best in KLAS: Medical Equipment report released earlier this year, the Alaris System was also named Best in KLAS for Smart Pumps.
