This week, InMedica, a UK-based market research firm, announced that there is a rapid growth in the use of ambulatory infusion pumps worldwide. According to the firm’s recent studies, governments are seeking healthcare improvement without jeopardizing their funding, making hospitals and other healthcare facilities venture into more cost-effective resolutions.

Studies show that there is an increasing trend with the use of home-care facilities instead of checking into hospitals. This trend has been observed in the Americas, Europe, Middle East and African regions due to the increase of age-related diseases. InMedica reports that these infusion pumps show an annual growth rate of 9.3%, in the Americas and other major regions alone. An estimated increase of 35.3 million units from the 10.1 million units shipped last year is projected in 2015 worldwide.

Home-based ambulatory infusion pumps help in conducting therapies such as analgesics, narcotics, chemotherapy and antibiotic infusions. AIV services many of the leading infusion pump models.
