The Gospel Halls Assemblies of St. Vincent and Grenadines generously donated new cardiotocography (CTG) equipment to Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH)’s maternity ward for maternal and fetal health care optimization. Church members and healthcare staffs joined together in an event featuring the presentation of the CTG fetal monitoring device early in July.

The CTG machine is an essential medical device used for conducting tests in the third trimester of pregnancy. Inetgrally geared with the cardiotocography, this multifunctional fetal monitor is used for simultaneous monitoring of fetal heart rate patterns, normal rate, and variability, as well as maternal vital signs.

MCMH nurse Clari Gilbert highlighted that through the CTG equipment, “an abnormal fetal heart rate pattern may indicate that the fetus is not getting enough oxygen or that there are other problems.” Gilbert also shared that the new machine is such an important device that can prevent life-changing consequences at the same time, a great improvement to their obstetrics care department.

MCMH expressed their gratitude to Gospel Hall Assemblies for addressing their need to acquire a new CTG machine since the hospital’s previous machine was damaged during flooding last December.

The Gospel Hall Assemblies made this CT machine contribution with healthcare optimization for mothers and their babies in mind. Pastor Hadyn Marshall stated that this recent initiative is only part of the church’s larger charity project while other ventures are underway.
