PeriGen Signs On with CommonWell Health Alliance

March 24, 2015

The CommonWell Health Alliance has welcomed software firm, PeriGen, as one of their latest members for 2015. PeriGen offers fetal monitoring systems to labor and delivery hospital departments in the United States. CommonWell is a non-profit trade association dedicated to providing built-in and cross-accessible healthcare data within IT systems at a reasonable cost for use by the health care community.

"Although our solutions already offer bi-directional integration with the most prevalent EMR systems in use by hospitals today," says Matthew Sappern, PeriGen's Chief Executive Officer, "we believe that supporting the expansion of this type of access to all systems so that providers and patients have easier access across the full continuum of care will at last leverage technology's power to improve patient health and therefore their lives."

CommonWell hopes to help health care providers manage patient identity, support consent management, and facilitate better coordination between the different health care processes. There are currently 10 provider sites wherein Alliance members have made these services available, ranging from large acute hospitals to rural specialty practices. Since it was launched in January 2014, thousands of people have signed up for the program. Healthcare-centric organizations, systems, and vendors are all welcome to join the association.

"No single vendor can solve industry-wide interoperability on its own," said Nick Knowlton, Membership Committee chair for CommonWell Health Alliance and Vice President at Brightree. "By adding PeriGen to our diverse membership we can continue to break down the barriers that have stood in the way of national data exchange."

Following recent efforts within the medical community to incorporate interoperability between the different systems and solutions available, clinicians should ensure that their fetal monitoring equipment is well-maintained and up-to-date. AIV provides high-quality and safe fetal monitoring systems, including new and recertified accessories, replacement parts, and repair services.
