Memorial Hospital in Fremont, Ohio recently installed two new ultrasound systems from GE Healthcare. The machines allow for shorter exam times and provide physicians with detailed, high-quality 3D fetal images.

The hospital acquired GE's LOGIQ E9, an advanced system with XDclear transducer technology and Agile Acoustic Architecture. These features enhance the transducers' ability to capture high-quality images on a wide variety of patients, including bariatric and obese patients.

"The LOGIQ E9 with XDclear expands our diagnostic ultrasound capabilities beyond what we've previously been able to accomplish," said Nate Perkins, director of radiology and cardiac services at Memorial Hospital. Perkins added that the device provides them with "extraordinary scanning capabilities," enabling them to use the instrument for general imaging on patients, from infants to full grown adults, as well as expectant mothers. According to Perkins, the highly detailed scans achieved with the LOGIQ E9 provide doctors with data to help them make informed diagnoses and determine treatment options.

Memorial Hospital's new transducers are housed in an additional ultrasound suite that was recently added to the department. The new facilities will provide better scheduling flexibility and improve overall patient care experience and environment. The machines were installed as part of Memorial Hospital's over $2 million investment in capital improvements for 2013.

New systems that provide reliable maternal and fetal status allow clinicians and healthcare facilities to give the best possible patient care. Top-notch fetal monitoring systems are vital to hospitals and other healthcare facilities to ensure maternal, perinatal and neonatal patient care and safety.
