Applications for 2014 Biomedical Engineering Innovation and Career Development Travel Awards Now Accepted

The Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) is currently accepting applications for the 2014 Biomedical Engineering Innovation and Career Development Travel Awards. The accolades aim to benefit underrepresented entities and minority groups in the fields of biomedical engineering research and training, with focus on minority health and health disparities.

Biomed Monthly – May 2014Graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and early career faculty as well as professionals undergoing critical transitions or are at re-entry points in their careers hailing from underrepresented biomedical engineering sectors like racial and ethnic minorities are invited to apply. Only BMES members without BMES funding through any other BMES sources are eligible to receive the awards.

The underrepresented groups in biomedical science and engineering arenas comprise women, African Americans, Alaskan Natives, American Indians or Native Americans, Hispanics, and Pacific Islanders from Guam, Hawaii, and American Samoa.

Winners will get a complimentary registration to the 2014 Annual Meeting, and an additional $800 travel stipend, upon completion of a W-9 form issued by BMES. Award winners will be announced at the forthcoming Health Disparities Session at the Annual Meeting scheduled for 1:30-3:30 on October 24, 2014.

Completed application requirements, which include an application form, curriculum vitae or resume, and letter of support should be submitted by 5pm EST on July 31, 2014, as late applications will not be evaluated. AAMI Regulatory Requirements for Software Validation in the Medical Device Industry Seminar

The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) invites all interested parties on May 7-9, 2014 for a three-day seminar that will be held at The Westin Arlington Gateway in Arlington, Virginia. This course program focuses on the requirements in adherence tothe Quality System regulation specific to software authentication.
