BMES Created New Award Honoring Dr. ShuChien
The Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering Special Interest Group recently created the ShuChien Achievement Award, to be bestowed upon an individual “who has demonstrated meritorious contributions to the field of cellular and molecular bioengineering.”
The award, which consists of a plaque, complimentary registration for the Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering (CMBE)Annual Conference and an honorarium of $1,000, will be presented to an individual yearly at the CMBE Conference.
Professor ShuChien, MD, PhD, who was President of the BMES, is among the world-renowned pioneers and educators in the field of biomedical engineering. Dr. Chien’s leadership to integrate biomedical engineering with cardiovascular physiology and molecular cell biology has greatly impacted the scientific and medical community. He is a mentor to numerous fellows and students, and a role model admired by generations of scientists. This annual achievement award honors his numerous accomplishments in the field, and is dedicated to recognizing an individual who has contributed greatly to cellular and molecular bioengineering.
The Center for Healthcare Governance Winter Symposium
The Center for Healthcare Governance will hold their Winter Symposium on leading and governing health care organizations this coming February 23-26 in Naples, Florida. This three-day program aims to provide trustees and executive leaders valuable insights on industry trends, as well as strategies and tools for navigating increasingly complex healthcare environments. 2014 CMBE Conference
BMES held their 2014 CMBE conference with the theme ‘Multi-scale Mechanobiology: From Morphogenesis to Nuclear Mechanotransduction’ last January 7-11, 2014 at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines in California. Engineers and biologists exchanged ideas on cell and molecular bioengineering technologies that allow scientists to carry out novel, fundamental studies in cell biology, drug discovery and regeneration.
